African elephants, famous for their intelligence and memory, have ways to show us they grieve, learn, are humorous, compassionate, self-aware and communicate. Even though it is the largest land mammal and has these amazing characteristics it is threatened by poaching and habitat destruction. They show love of family, yet their families are being torn apart. Scientists say extinction could happen by 2020. We need to do what is right to preserve the beloved pachyderms.
