I chose to dye-paint the bear, enhancing it with thread. fabric inks, along with
a variety of hand-dyed and painted fabrics depict this Arctic scene.

The plight of the polar bear, king of its sea-ice habitat, tears at my heartstrings. Nanook, as the Inuit refer to it, is a species at risk because of global warming melting the polar ice. This mother bear is nurturing her baby, as we humans should be care taking all northern creatures.
