When beginning to design “Against the Flow” I wanted to show the beauty found just off the incredible beaches of Gabriola Island – the captivating sea life and the rich colors. I wanted people to be aware of and do something productive to save dwindling fish stocks. As the piece evolved I realized the fish carried a message for all of us. The jumping fish is about going against the flow, getting out of your comfort zone and seeing what’s out there. The swimming fish also have a message – enjoy the beauty in the everyday.
